ABOUT US
After several years working in politics, we’ve joined forces to help not-for-profit organisations achieve their government engagement goals, and, in turn, create real, lasting change.
We saw that many social sector organisations had wonderful ideas, but struggled to have them adopted by government. The missing piece was often a clear strategy, insider knowledge, and the right approach to engaging political stakeholders. That’s why we created Tanck—to equip you with the tools, insights, and strategies to communicate effectively with government and get your ideas heard.
Our team brings experience from a diverse range of sectors, including social sector ministerial offices, not-for-profit organisations in health, climate, and social equality, philanthropic boards, psychology, and the arts.

So, who is Tanck? Well, it’s rather elementary, Watson…
Chris Watson, born Johan Cristian Tanck, was the first leader of a progressive democratically elected government in Australia and the world. On 23 April 1904, Chris Watson became the first Labor Prime Minister of Australia, marking a watershed moment in progressive politics that reverberated the world over. Watson achieved this through his wit, guile and intelligence and was remarked upon as being a pragmatic idealist and a natural leader able to bring people of opposing views together to implement great change and reform. Watson (formerly Tanck) was only 37 when he became Prime Minister – the youngest in Australia’s history. Post-politics he went on to found the NRMA and Ampol; so behind some of the biggest brands in Australia was Tanck.
More than a century later, Tanck seeks to honor Watson’s legacy by working to support leaders in the Australian community who aspire to drive change for the better, for all Australians. Tanck is the story behind the name, behind the person; showing the journey to achieving great change isn’t ever easy but is always worthwhile.
